The court resolves the conditional release of Ion Parot, but the prosecutor appeals
  • The Criminal Tax Tribunal has approved the conditional release of the Basque prisoner Ion Parot, but that is not the case at the moment because the Public Prosecutor’s Office has appealed for the decision. The Peace Road accuses Paris of being "affected by sectarian blindness" and "integrated into a security ideology that does not take into account the specificity of the Basque problem".

Nothing more than the Hearing has accepted the question, the Prosecutor, the Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor, has appealed against the decision to release Ion Parot, the Basque prisoner. The step taken by the Paris Criminal Tax Hearing has been suspended for the time being and Parot will have to remain in prison. He has been in this situation for 32 years and it is the sixth time that the defence demands his freedom.

The Path of Peace has explained that "this resource is incomprehensible and even more unbearable because it feels persecuted by a 71-year-old prisoner who has spent half a life in prison and whose freedom does not pose any danger".

July 23 mass blockade in Ipar Euskal Herria

The Via de Paz, which works in the defence of the rights of Basque prisoners and in the defence of a solution for peace, has announced an important mobilization: "Since today we have announced that, since the magistrates do not give way to the situation in Jon, and since the Head of State and his Government do not take account of the peace process, on 23 July we will block all Ipar Euskal Herria!
