In the aftermath of the demonstration, Maite Aristegi described the holiday in honour of the Constitution as an offensive imposition, adding that the best way for the Basque Country to ensure its survival is to “proclaim the Basque Republic”.

Aristegi recalls that the Spanish Constitution closes the doors of sovereignty to the Basque Country and adds that its DNA and that of Francoism is the same DNA. “DNA without democracy and social justice.”

There has also been a demonstration in Bilbao, called by Ernai and Patriotic Students to “confront the regime of 78”. In addition, the Basque National School has been proclaimed. On the other hand, popular classes have been held in various places in the morning.

In addition to the mobilizations, many have indicated from the workplace that they did not plan to celebrate today.Among them the light. It’s been a long time since we decided to ignore the official calendar and start taking steps to create a working calendar that aligns with our values. We work normally on July 14th, October 12th and December 6th, and celebrate the International Day of the Basque Country on December 3rd.
