There have been numerous and serious attacks on women in recent days. At the end of the weekend, on Sunday, two sexist attacks during Bilbao’s Semana Magna, a day after the festivities began, were reported by the Bilbao Partners. By the next day, it had to be reported that another new attack had been received and that more had been reported. But even beyond the festive capital of Biscay, during the week there have been reports of eleven sexist attacks here and there. Two incidents from the long list of attacks are called for on Friday, one in Vitoria-Gasteiz and the other in Basauri.
In Basauri, a 36-year-old man is accused of assaulting his partner, summoned by the local feminist movement (at 7 p.m. on Andra Mari Street in Begoña). He assaulted her at home and even threw threats at her. The man was arrested by the local police of Basauri and handed over to the judge. It has been reported that the detainee has a history of violence against women and has been ordered to stay away from his former partner.
On the other hand, the rape of a transsexual woman by a 31-year-old man on Tuesday morning will be condemned in Vitoria-Gasteiz. The meeting is convened by the Feminist Movement of Vitoria-Gasteiz and the Lumagorri association at 19:30 in the Plaza de Andra Mari Blanca. The attack took place in Zaramaga, where the Sidalava commission denounced that the man had already raped the woman several times.
The police arrested the man and handed him over to the judge, but after the judge removed his passport and imposed a restraining order, the aggressor waits for a new trial, free.
In addition to these two attacks that will be denounced today, we need to mention more. In Vitoria-Gasteiz, two men aged 28 and 39 were arrested by the local police in the early hours of Sunday. One of the arrests occurred in the Lakuabizkarra neighbourhood and the other in Sansomendi. In both cases, the men attacked their partner at home. They were handed over to the judge.
On Thursday, a 48-year-old man has been charged with attempting to sexually abuse two minors, the Lakua Department of Safety said. In the parking lot of a shopping center in Leioa, the man approached the minors in the car and invited them to get into the vehicle. The mother of one of these youngsters was nearby and when she approached, the man fled.
The woman turned to the police and filed a complaint. After the investigation was launched, the man was charged with abuse.
On Friday, a 33-year-old man was arrested. The attacker strikes his partner, threatens him with a knife and drags him down the street. The woman has had to be hospitalized, and the man will spend the next few hours before the judge.
In 2017, a 41-year-old man was arrested by the Guardia Civil in Arraia. The assailant made an appointment with the woman in a village in La Rioja, just around the corner from a job interview. According to the investigation carried out by the Civil Guard, the man tried to kiss the woman, who began to beat her when she answered no. When he knocked her unconscious, he raped her and then fled.
