Wind turbines in election campaign
Sañu Bizirik @sanu_bizirik 2023ko maiatzaren 22a

A few months ago, we discovered the wind threat and began to organize ourselves in the face of this attack. We could say that both occurred together, as knowledge of the project aroused the desire to stop it.

With the publication of the project, the Azpeitia and Starkraft City Hall explained the causes and some of the characteristics of the project, which, far from calming the waters, clarified the dimensions of the need to stop it.

The City Council supported the statements made from the outset for lack of information and the pending investigations. This lack of information, however, was not an obstacle to political propaganda, since from the beginning the potential benefits of this project were known.

They said they would try to fix this lack of information, saying they would make it public as soon as possible. Today is the day when the Sañu wind turbine project has come into our hands, not with the City Hall, but with the Department of Industry. This seems to us to be a huge lack of respect. There are two options for this to happen: either they have hidden the information or they have not taken care of it. Both options are very worrying. In any case, it is a preliminary draft that provides information for municipalities to make their assessments.

On the other hand, the time at which this information has come to our attention, particularly on the eve of the elections, has been very striking. This was not the only report that was made public by the elections. The Sectoral Territorial Plan for Renewable Energy has just been published. We believe that both movements are highly elective. We want to make it clear that this PTS does not affect the ongoing administrative processes. That is to say, this PTS will not be an obstacle to the construction of the plants planned in Oleta and Sañu.
