If we analyze the latest data published in the Navarro Public Health Newsletter, sexually transmitted infections have increased in recent years: more than three sexually transmitted infections are diagnosed each day. In order to cope with the increase of these infections, the Department of Health, through the Navarro Institute of Public Health and Occupational Health, has launched an awareness campaign, under the motto The connection is safe, with the objective of informing that these diseases could be avoided with preventive measures and avoiding risk practices.
The campaign seeks to “reduce the incidence of infections”, providing information about them and preventive resources. Society becomes aware of this through messages such as “this connection is not secure” or “your connection is blocked” and invites all citizens to “restart their practices safely”.
If we look at routine screening in gynecological studies, the most significant increase in these infections occurs in people under 35 years of age: Men aged 25 to 34 years present the highest incidence of “infection of syphilis, gonorrhea or venereal lymphogranuloma”. However, among women aged 15-24, a “chlamydia infection” has been detected.
