On Wednesday, trade union representatives attended a joint press conference in Bilbao. It is Miren Zubizarreta of ELA, Irati Tobar of LAB, Ana Pérez de Steilas, Pablo García de Vicuña of CCOO and Joseba Ander Muñoz of UGT.

The workers made a positive assessment of the strike, considering that the call has received "broad support". However, they were not optimistic about other aspects: after a week of strike, they stressed that the Department of Education of the Basque Government has not contacted them. As the unions have pointed out, despite statements by the Education Advisor, Jokin Bidarratz, in favour of dialogue, these have not materialised.

Thus, there is still a lack of a “comprehensive plan” of response to COVID-19 in schools, and trade union representatives noted that the situation has not improved: “The number of classrooms isolated in schools is increasing and cases of transmission within the school begin to emerge. If the resources needed to ensure health measures are not planned and transmitted as soon as possible, the problems of contagion will increase in our schools.” In this regard, they have called on the Basque Government for a "Comprehensive Plan" of action in the field of self-government.

In order to achieve a “secure” and “consensual” course, new mobilizations have been convened on 2 October in Bilbao, Donostia and Vitoria-Gasteiz, at 18:00 hours.
