The Prosecutor's Office calls for imprisonment for thirteen of the detainees in a CoR action
  • On February 23, coinciding with the 1981 coup attempt in Spain, the defendants were arrested for symbolically blocking the entry of the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia. The Public Prosecutor's Office is calling for two and a half years' imprisonment.

On 23 February the Mossos arrested fourteen persons in the framework of the surprise action called by the CoR (Committee for the Defence of the Republic). Under the slogan “they want us to silence, but we will respond together”, some 150 people blocked entry to the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia to denounce the judicial proceedings against independence and the repression suffered by many activists, students, teachers and raptors. The arrested were imprisoned, but after exercising the right not to testify, they were released on parole.

The Criminal Chamber No. 31 of Barcelona instructs the case. The Court of Appeal No. 2 of Madrid has warned that an oral trial will be opened on the facts that are taking place. On Thursday, the anti-repression platform Guardia Solidaria reported that the Office of the Prosecutor charged the accused with two crimes of disorder and one of disobedience and another of grave resistance, according to the National Police. According to the platform, “this new charge has been brought about by the express request of the new prosecutor’s office that is now in charge of the PSC and the PSOE”. ONCE of the defendants face two and a half years of imprisonment for disorder offences in the National High Court. The other two detainees face one year ' s imprisonment for disobedience and resistance.

According to VilaWeb, the exiled member of the CoR of Esplugues (Catalonia), Adrià Carrasco, will appear on 6 September in Brussels (Belgium). The Civil Guard managed to escape the arrest of Tamara Carrasco on 10 April, as the National Court had also issued an arrest warrant against Adrià. Since then, the National Police has remained in unknown whereabouts under the accusation of terrorism, rebellion and sedition in Spain.

Attorney Christopher Marchand will be accompanied at the press conference. Carrasco also has behind his case the same team carrying the defense of Valtònyc, deported cosellers and Puigdemont, among others.
