Bizkaia Post operators denounce "excessive" workloads and service precariousness
  • The CCOO – ESK-UGT – LAB-CSIF trade unions and the workers represented in the post office in Bizkaia have regretted these days that the postal service offered by Correos "is deteriorating increasingly". They denounce that this deterioration is the result of recruitment cuts, increased precariousness and increased temporary contracts. For this reason, they have concentrated these days in the whole of Bizkaia and in ours: day 3 in Algorta, day 4 in Las Arenas and Tuesday in Gorliz.

Last November, the Bizkaia Post Workers began the mobilisations because the Post Office did not present measures to deal with the situations reported by the operators or the possibility of dialogue. Thus, since then, several concentrations have been held in different locations, in front of the company's headquarters, as well as in places where the paralysis is "more severe". However, the trade unions regret that the Directorate has not taken the necessary measures to correct the situation.

Protest employees report that the service offered by Correos "is getting worse and worse." They say that the company has considerably reduced recruitment, that the precariousness of workers is increasing and that any contracts made have increased. They also denounce non-compliance with workers' holidays, medical leave and other incidents.

As a result of all this, the staff has emphasized that casualties from stress and anxiety are increasing due to the inability to cope with the daily workload they have, "and yet, the overeffort made, in most cases, is not enough to provide a service properly".

In order to make the situation visible, several concentrations have been carried out throughout Bizkaia and in our own. The next mobilisation will take place tomorrow Friday in Bilbao.
