The Socialist Movement denounces that it has been “denied” the possibility of being put to the beach during the festivities of Bilbao and Vitoria
  • The GKS of Vitoria-Gasteiz and the Housing Syndicate, and the Luberri of Bilbao, have made an appearance. “For several months” they have assured that they have been trying to “channel the situation” with Bilbao Comparsas and the Txosna Commission of Vitoria-Gasteiz, without results. The “political environment of the Creations” has been held responsible for the “political veto”. They have indicated that there is still time and their willingness to find a solution. Last year, both the Bilbao Comparsas and the Txsona Committee of Vitoria-Gasteiz denied the denunciation of the Socialist Movement.

The three agents of the Socialist Movement held a press conference in Bilbao on Tuesday morning.

In Bilbao

As for the Bilbao Divisions, the Socialist Movement explains that it was at the beginning of the year that Luberri made the request to join the Divisions, which was discussed in January. They say the lawsuit had “many supporters,” but “they decided to leave us out again.” They denounce that the parties have changed the criteria for the admission of new members, and that 75% of the votes in favor are now necessary, "prevailing the right of veto of a minority".

According to the Socialist Movement, the Bilbao Partners have admitted that they “agree” with the fundamentals of the agent, but have explained to them that “there is a lack of trust” in them. This lack of trust could be due to the fact that last year the decision not to accept Luberri was publicly denounced. “If that’s the reason, there’s no way to understand why Luberri was left out last year before we made any public statement,” they say.

In Vitoria

Also in the case of the capital of Álava, according to what has been explained, at the beginning of the academic year the request was made by the GKS and the Vitoria-Gasteiz Housing Union to put the party in check, “but we did not receive a response”.

In January, an agent of the commission proposed that the two agents put a single check and that “collaboration in practice” be valued: “They have not worked on the proposal and have not made any alternative proposal,” they say. The Txosna Commission has been accused of being unwilling “once again this year.”

Bilbao Partners and Vitoria-Gasteiz Txosna Committees

Last year he also denounced the exclusion of the Socialist Movement in Vitoria-Gasteiz and Bilbao. Both the Txosna Committee in Vitoria-Gasteiz and the Bilbao Partners responded in June with a note. Both denied the imposition of “political vetoes” and defended the decisions taken.

The political reasons

“This exclusion is politically motivated,” the statement said. They point out that the “political environment represented by the Created” is fueling the “mistrust” against them because it sees the Socialist Movement as a “political competition.” They deny that they are not able to “operate in large spaces”, and as proof of this they mention that they work together with eleven agents in different festive committees, in the agent Solidarity with Palestine or in ecological platforms.

It has been denounced that the “veto” against the Socialist Movement “compromises the pluralism” of both the Txosna Committee of Vitoria-Gasteiz and the Comparsas de Bilbao and excludes “a large number of young people”.

In view of this year’s festivities, “there is time to agree on a solution”, they assured during the appearance, for which they expressed their willingness to “dialogue and collaboration”.
