INPRIMATU
The cold and snow make the situation of migrants in transit even more unbearable.
  • Caught on Europe’s borders, encamped in deplorable conditions or surviving as they can, there are thousands of migrants facing the harsh winter. Proof of this is the picture left by the floods in the Moria camp or the plight of Bosnia and Croatia. Some have claimed to have been sentenced to death.

On the doorstep of Europe, activists warn that thousands of people live in the most deplorable conditions, which is a priority to ensure safe migration rather than re-patching.

But instead, we see increasingly crowded camps. On the Greek island of Lesbos, the camp of Moria was set on fire last year and Moria2 was created, a camp to which, according to them, "he moved from one concentration camp to another". During these days, torrential rains have exposed the terrible conditions of the camp (see photo below). Now that the water has collected everything, activist Parwana Amiri describes from there a desperate reality: “We live in tents sunk by the rain; we move between wastewater without hygiene; we sleep with wet, cold blankets.”

The UN itself has denounced the situation of asylum seekers trapped between the borders of Bosnia and Croatia: After the burning of the Lipa camp, thousands of refugees face freezing temperatures and snow without a decent roof.
