The Israeli settlers have begun the construction of a new colony in eastern Jerusalem, specifically in the Al-Sawahreh district, declared by the Palestinians as its territory for many years. The Palestinian news agency, Wafa, has explained that the plot belongs to the Abu Hussein family, so it is an illegal construction.

The Israeli Government passed a law at the end of June to facilitate the building procedure in the West Bank, although it was rejected by the United Nations, several institutions and governments.

Meanwhile, the CAF company of Beasain is participating in the construction of the tram that links the centre of Jerusalem with the illegal colonies. The Eau de CAF platform and the Works Council have repeatedly called for CAF to emerge from this project which aims to "further exclude the Palestinians".
