"The Mozal Law has been applied to us for the defense of the Ursula pig," the members of Askobra said in a statement to the press. Eleak Libre and Askobra have called a press conference on Tuesday at 19:00 in the same Plaza Nueva, together they will read a manifesto. People are called to attend.

On December 21, 2017, twelve members of the Askobra in San Sebastián’s Plaza Nueva were blocking with civil disobedience the cage in which the pig Ursula was to be introduced, leaving early in the morning and entering it. They were there for 30 minutes and because they took a passive stance of resistance, the local police had to drag them out.

They have now been fined EUR 7,200.

The purpose of the action was to denounce in general the slaughter and speciesism with pigs that day. "Pigs, like other animals, have a central nervous system and the ability to feel. As a result, they are individuals who deserve respect. It is unjust, to fatten an individual against his will, to show him as if he were an object, and finally to exploit him to death to have more pigs. In addition to this, about 700 other pigs like Ursula will be slaughtered only this day for San Sebastian," he said at the time.
