Commissions of ten million euros in the operation of the mask that stop Koldo García

Koldo García was an advisor to José Luis Abalos, former minister of transport, mobility and urban agenda of the Government of Spain in his time as minister. According to El Secreto, who published the news, his second employee, according to Abalos. In 2019 he was appointed member of the Management Board of Renfe Commodities, S.A.

Patricia Uriz, wife of García, was also arrested at first, but then released. In his time as minister, Uriz worked as assistant secretary in his ministry.

According to the first indications, the operation would be related to the purchase of masks for the Ministries of Transport and Interior during the pandemic and for the Balearic Islands and the Autonomous Communities of the Canary Islands. The Civil Guard is conducting the investigation on behalf of the Spanish Public Prosecutor’s Office against Corruption.

Contracts worth EUR 50 million were made to deal with COVID-19 in purchases of health equipment, of which EUR 10 million were generated. In the operation of the Spanish National Hearing, 20 people were arrested on Wednesday and some 26 requests for exploration were processed.

The National Court has ordered the investigation of the property of the couple García and Uriz to see if they can have anything to do with the money received for possible corruption. Between 2020 and 2023 the couple acquired two homes in Benidorm, both on the first line of the beach and three rural plots in the same municipality.

History of Garcia in Navarra

Koldo García is affiliated with the PSOE and a member of UGT. He was also a member of the Stop Etxegabetxeak platform. As has been published in many media, Spanish Government President Pedro Sánchez gave him praise for the work carried out on social networks in 2014: “The latest socialist aizkolari, a titan against evictions.”

He was a member of the PSN in Huarte (Navarra) between 2011 and 2015 and has a very turbulent trajectory, especially as a jury and for the attacks carried out in times of escort. He also served as a bodyguard for UGT’s historical leader, Nicolás Redondo.

In 1995 he was sentenced to two years and four months in prison for a beating in the Aranguren Valley (Navarre) of a citizen between four oaths in 1991, in which the tension and conflicts that arose from the landfill that was built at that time. José Mari Aznar's government pardoned García and went to jail where he was.

In 2011 he was also sentenced for a beating in Pamplona to a young minor in the Sanfermines 2010. The young man walked into a bar where a street dress policeman kicked him out because he was wearing a Independence t-shirt. Outside, Garcia grabbed her, threw her to the ground and beat her.
